Internships
The Sydney Writers’ Festival Internship Program is open to applications from undergraduate and postgraduate students attending UNSW Sydney as part of an enrolled course in 2025.
If you are eligible to apply, please read the position descriptions below and submit your application via the online application form by 5pm, Friday 29 November 2024.
The internship program is designed to facilitate learning within a collaborative office environment, as well as offer practical experience working on a large-scale Festival event. Each role has been designed according to specific learning outcomes. The internship program also provides valuable opportunities for students to network with professionals in Sydney’s thriving arts and cultural events industry.
Sydney Writers’ Festival is committed to ensuring students can maintain their study load alongside their internship commitment, offering a flexible working environment. Interns will be able to negotiate the days and times they are able to attend the Sydney Writers' Festival head office in The Rocks and may be able to complete some tasks remotely. However, it is important that Interns schedule availability during Festival week from Monday 19 May to Sunday 25 May 2025, so that they can see their contribution come to fruition during Festival week.

Arts Administration
The 2025 Sydney Writers’ Festival Administration & Office Management Intern will undertake a variety of practical activities designed to facilitate learning and contribute to the success of the Festival’s overall administration and management.
16 weeks / 150 hours – commences 3 March 2025

Event Management (Program & Logistics)
The Programming Intern will work within the Programming team on the administrative and logistical side of programming for the 2025 Festival. They will support the Festival Producer, Children & Young Adult Program Manager, and Travel & Logistics Coordinator.
Please note: Programming in this context refers to artistic programming and event curation, not IT programming.
12 weeks / 145 hours – commences 3 February 2025

Event Management (Production & Operations)
The Event Management Intern will undertake a variety of practical technical and organisational activities directly contributing to the production and operational requirements of the Sydney Writers’ Festival.

Event Management (Volunteers)
The 2025 Sydney Writers’ Festival Volunteer Management Intern will undertake a variety of practical activities designed to facilitate learning in the field of Event Management and contribute to the success of the Festival’s Volunteer program.
15 weeks / 160 hours – commences 3 March 2025

The 2025 Sydney Writers' Festival Marketing internship will undertake a variety of practical tasks that contribute to the successful marketing campaign of the 2025 Festival, gaining hands-on professional experience in a major literary Festival.
