Accessibility

Sydney Writers' Festival strives to make every event as accessible as possible.

All Festival venues are accessible, including wheelchair and level access. 

To book Access Tickets please call our box office on (02) 9256 4200 Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm. 

On the day of the event, please locate a venue staff member and they will arrange your entry to your seat in the venue.   

Auslan-interpreted events 

Tickets for best sight line seating at Auslan-interpreted events can be purchased over the phone on (02) 9256 4200 or via email at ticketing@swf.org.au. Sydney Writers’ Festival also accepts phones calls via the National Relay Service.

Assistive Listening Systems

Various venues are fitted with Assistive Listening Systems. Upon arrival to events please contact box office or front of house staff for instructions on how to access assistive listening systems.

Captioning

Tickets for captioned events can be purchased through the Sydney Writers' Festival Box Office, either by phone on (02) 9256 4200 or email at ticketing@swf.org.au.

Companion cards 

Companion Card holders qualify for a complimentary ticket for their companion. Please contact the Sydney Writers' Festival box office directly on (02) 9256 4200 for assistance with your booking. 

National Relay Service 

Sydney Writers’ Festival accepts phone calls via the National Relay Service. TTY users can phone 133 677, then ask for (02) 9256 4200. Speak and Listen users can phone 1300 555 727, then ask for (02) 9256 4200. Internet relay users can visit relayservice.gov.au, then ask for (02) 9256 4200.

Quiet Room

At Carriageworks, a Quiet Room is available in Bays 22–24. Please refer to the Precinct Map on your arrival to Carriageworks or ask our friendly volunteers and front of house staff for its location.   

Assistance animals 

Guide Dogs are welcome at all Festival events and venues. 

If you are blind or have low vision and want to attend an event at Sydney Writers' Festival, Guide Dogs NSW/ACT can provide you with support for how to travel safely from any location to your event at the Festival. Call 1800 484 333 to discuss your travel needs.

Online events 

Sydney Writers’ Festival has a range of events for you to enjoy remotely. In 2025, we are delighted to livestream a selection of our events from the Festival. Learn more and a book a day pass here. The daily livestream will be close captioned.
